Diplomats of Belarus, Egypt discuss FTA between Egypt and CU

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ambassador to Egypt Sergei Rachkov and Egypt’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Maghdi Radi have discussed a possibility to establish a free trade area (FTA) between Egypt and the Customs Union (CU) at a meeting in Egypt on 10 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The parties have discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Egypt, including cooperation in mechanical engineering, power engineering, petrochemical industry, and agriculture. The parties emphasized that it is important to hold a regular session of the joint Belarus-Egypt commission for trade and to establish a bilateral business council.

The diplomats exchanged information about the priorities of Belarus and Egypt in international economic organizations. The parties agreed on expanding cooperation in the field of sustainable development, power engineering and climate.
