Indo-Sri Lanka free trade agreement a success to Sri Lanka: Minister Fernandopullai

Mar 07, Colombo: Indian government has agreed to provide a 70% tax concession for 2,802 goods exported from Sri Lanka to India, says Minister of Trade, Commerce, Consumer Affairs and Marketing Development Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, appraising the Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement as a success to Sri Lanka.

It is expected that 100% tax exemptions will be provided to 3,195 goods by 2008. Already 880 goods exported from Sri Lanka to India enjoy 100% tax exemption.

Sri Lanka which has signed bilateral trade agreements with Pakistan and several other countries as well is negotiating to have more bilateral free trade agreements in future.
