Turkey ready to sign FTA with Mexico, says minister

"Both Mexico and Turkey to play important roles in their regions, finding oppurtunities for cooperation in various platforms like G-20 and OECD," said Caglayan on his meeting with Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Jose Antonio Meade.

Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Caglayan said on Tuesday that Turkey was ready to sign a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with Mexico.

"Both Mexico and Turkey to play important roles in their regions, finding oppurtunities for cooperation in various platforms like G-20 and OECD," said Caglayan on his meeting with Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Jose Antonio Meade.

Caglayan also stressed that despite close bilateral relations, economic cooperation is inefficient with a total trading volume of 1.1 billion dollars.

Turkey’s aim is to establish Free Trade Agreement with Mexico said Caglayan, adding that he hopes to start negotiations on this issue during the current visit of Meade.

Caglayan also said that Turkey and Mexico could cooperate in the sector of construction and any other sectors.
