Sayyid Fahd receives US envoy

MUSCAT - His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, deputy prime minister for the Council of Ministers, received here yesterday the US ambassador to the Sultanate. Sayyid Fahd welcomed the ambassador and wished him success in his new tasks and relations between the two countries’ progress.

Conversation during the meeting dealt with existing relations between the two friendly countries and ways of boosting them in all fields in the light of US President George W. Bush’s signature legalising the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the US and the Sultanate, current regional and international developments and matters of joint interest were reviewed.

The ambassador expressed his government’s satisfaction for the existing cooperation between the two countries and the keenness to develop it in the interest of the two peoples.

He said that the FTA was an achievement that crowns a stage that began a few years ago and would open up new horizons in trade relations.

The ambassador emphasised his government’s great appreciation for the efforts being exerted by the Omani leadership in the internal comprehensive building and in cementing friendship and cooperation relations with the international community expressing his country’s intention to further developing cooperation relations with the Sultanate. - ONA
