Activists to protest over China deal

Mar 18, 2008

Human rights activists will take to the footpath outside Helen Clark’s Auckland office to protest against a free-trade deal with China.

New Zealand’s Free Burma Campaign has organised the protest, which will kick off on Wednesday at 6pm.

Campaign spokesman Joe Carolan says the group is absolutely disgusted New Zealand is going ahead with the deal while people are being butchered in Tibet.

Carolan says the campaign has already had expressions of support and is expecting more than a hundred people to participate.
