EU Will Start Negotiation with China on Bilateral Trade

2006-07-13 MOFCOM

EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson is now carrying out a new policy that is ready to start up negotiation on bilateral trade agreement with China and hopes to relax EU and China trade issues through this mechanism. He says, since Asian opening seems more literalized, it is more efficient for European exporters carrying bilateral negotiation with Asian countries,

In fact, EU and China bilateral trade negotiation exists all along without essential progress. Li Gang, director of European Department of Ministry of Commerce Academy says that WTO formed multilateral trade structure only provides relevant regulations while bilateral negotiation will become a favorable breakthrough point. But he emphasizes that bilateral trade between China and EU is comparatively complex and can not reach definite agreement in a short time due to involvement of two aspects: relations of China and EU, relations of China and EU member countries.
