India-Singapore FTA to be ready in weeks

Singapore, Singapore, Mar. 29, 2005 (UPI) — A Free Trade Agreement between India and Singapore should be ready during the next couple of weeks, India’s finance minister said Monday.

P Chidambaram said the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement between the two nations is in the last stages of negotiation.

"With a little more effort on both sides we should be able to tie up the loose ends in the next couple of weeks," he said.

Singapore has already signed several FTAs, including one with the United States and one with Japan.
