Intellectual property in the US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement

Centre for International Environmental Law | July 2008

CIEL presents Intellectual Property in the US-Peru Trade Promotion
Agreement
, the third paper in its Intellectual Property, Bilateral
Agreements and Sustainable Development Series
. The paper was produced
by Sociedad Peruana de Derecho Ambiental (SPDA) and CIEL. Written by
Luis Alonso Garcia, former head negotiator for Peru for the Intellectual
Property Chapter of the FTA with the United States, it examines a
specific free trade agreement, the US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement, as
an example of the challenges and opportunities, especially for civil
society participation, presented by such negotiations. The paper aims
to provide lessons for developing countries and civil society
organizations to consider in their future work. Available at: http://www.ciel.org/Publications/IP_USPeruFTA_Jun08.pdf
