Peru to conduct market research study on Russia, India FTAs in H2 2012

23 January 2012

Lima (ANDINA). Peruvian Trade and Tourism Minister Jose Luis Silva announced Monday that the market research studies before starting negotiations on free trade agreements (FTA) with Russia and India will be conducted during the second half of 2012.

"It is possible that the market research study concerning Russia will be conducted along with Colombia," Minister Silva told Andina news agency.

Silva said he is in talks with his Colombian counterpart to jointly carry out a study about the potential of the Russian market and establish the benefits of signing a trade pact.

Moreover, the Peruvian minister said he has also talked with authorities from India who have shown interest in negotiating a FTA with Peru.

"We will keep working on the agreements that allow us to consolidate and diversify our exports," he added.
