Postponement of Implementing Free Trade Agreement With USA

A-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on the postponement of implementation of the free trade agreement with the United States which was signed by US President George W. Bush on January 11, 2006. The paper quoted reliable sources in Manama, Bahrain, who told the paper in late February 2006 that the American government demands that the Bahrain government enact laws protecting intellectual property rights for computer programs and patent registry. They said that Washington demands enacting these laws on intellectual property rights as a condition for implementing the free trade agreement.
