SAARC business leaders moot in November

LAHORE: Third SAARC Business Leaders Conclave (SBLC) scheduled for November 22-23,in Colombo, with the theme of ‘Regional Cooperation: a catalyst for socio-economic growth in South Asia’ will aim to provide the right platform for a broader and intense engagement between member governments and South Asian Business community. The moot will emphasize deeper public-private partnership and create dynamics to address common challenges.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ratnasiri Wickremanayake will inaugurate the event, said a news release. Issues of great significance such as food security, climate change, global financial crisis, economic integration of SAARC through enhanced regional connectivity, which is also a subject of interest of World Bank Group, have been included in the conclave.

The event has the collaboration of the Federation of Sri Lankan Chambers of Commerce & Industry, World Bank Group as a knowledge partner, supported by Freidrich Naumann Foundation, Fur Die Freiheit.

SAARC CCI SBLC President Tariq Sayeed and Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik said this would be the most prestigious event of SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is addressed by head of the government of the host country, leading politicians, prominent speakers, scholars and elite corporate leaders from the region and the world.

The first and the second SBLCs were hosted by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the first was inaugurated by the prime minister of India. He said the South Asian Business Community will find this forum an opportunity for striking new partnerships, exploring business opportunities and sharing best practices across many business entities, thereby forging closer economic cooperation in the region.
