Dominican Telecom chief says Free Trade means changes

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Telecom Institute (Indotel) affirmed that the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Central America (DR-CAFTA) will force the country to transform the free zones into high technology industrial parks to be able to compete in the world market.
Jose Rafael Vargas made the statement during the inaugural of an advanced informatics training center equipped with 10 computers connected to high speed Internet, in Tecnologico Salesiano Institute (ITESA) in the Maria Auxiliario sector in this city.
In that regard, the official said that Dominican youth must be prepared in digital technology to face DR-CAFTA’s challenges.
