Sixth round of Korea-China FTA negotiations to be held July 2-4

SEOUL, June 25 (Yonhap) — South Korea and China will hold a fresh round of negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) early next month, the Seoul government said Tuesday.

The sixth round of the FTA negotiations between Seoul and Beijing will be held July 2-4 in South Korea’s largest port city of Busan, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

"At the upcoming round of negotiations, the two sides will work to come up with a draft on the modality of their FTA negotiations, and also work to reach an agreement on such rules in possible areas," the ministry said in a released statement.

The formal FTA negotiations between South Korea and China were launched in May 2012 with the fifth round of talks held in Harbin, China in April.

Along with a bilateral FTA, South Korea and China are seeking to sign a three-way free trade deal that also involves Japan.
