Serbia, Turkey to sign free trade agreement next year

(Tanjug) Deputy Prime Minister for EU integration Bozidar Djelic announced today that next year Serbia and Turkey will sign an agreement on free trade.

Djelic told the Beta news agency that during the talks with Turkish officials it was agreed to begin the next round of talks on the agreement in the first quarter of 2009.

During the International Economic Forum in Istanbul, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Turkish Prime Minister Tajip Erdogan and Foreign Minister and chief negotiator for Turkey’s EU accession Ali Babajan.

Djelic said that they agreed that the Turkish delegation and a group of businesspeople visit Serbia.

As part of preparations for the visit, representatives of the largest Turkish companies will visit Serbia and identify the projects they are interested in, concluded Djelic.
