Tunisia, Indonesia to build free trade partnership

Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui confirmed on Monday that he had received a proposal from Indonesia on establishing a free trade partnership between the two countries.

Jhinaoui made the remarks during the visit of his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi. He said that the two sides aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation through the Tunisia-Indonesia Joint Committee which had resumed operation after nine-year suspension.

The two ministers agreed to boost bilateral cooperation that is mutually beneficial in fields including trade, investment, education, diplomatic training and fight against terrorism.

According to Marsudi, her current visit will encourage the acquisition of new investment potentials as part of the public-private partnership projects in both countries.

The current volume of trade between Tunisia and Indonesia is between 120 and 150 million dinars (between 48 and 60 million U.S. dollars).
