Trade-related intellectual property rights, access to medicines and human rights - Morocco

The briefing calls for an independent human rights impact assessment of the
effect of intellectual property rules in the US - Morocco Free Trade
Agreement (FTA) on access to medicines and the enjoyment of human rights in
Morocco. The FTA came into force on 1 January 2006.

The briefing was submitted to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and
Cultural Rights which will review Morocco’s commitments under the Covenant
on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on the 10 May 2006. The Committee
has already made recommendations to other countries urging them to undertake
human rights impact assessments of trade rules.

The country briefing can be downloaded from 3D’s website in English and
French.
