Dominican delegation to propose creating adjustment funds in European negotiations

BRUSSELS, Belgium.- The Dominican Republic, jointly with the other CARICOM (Caribbean) nations will propose to the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific) countries, creating structural adjustment funds to cover costs of the transition toward free trade, within the framework of negotiations with the European Union.
The information was disclosed by the Dominican ambassador to Belgium and to the European Communities, Federico Cuello Camilo.
He stated that other proposals to be presented as a group by the Caribbean countries include creating mechanisms to promote a greater cohesion within each region of the ACP group, as well as applying the Lisboan strategy for competitiveness of productive sectors.
