SINGAPORE: Singapore’s plans to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Panama remain on track.

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo met Panama First Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Lewis Navarro on Wednesday at the sidelines of the APEC Ministerial Meeting in Busan, South Korea.

The ministers said they both look forward to the signing of a bilateral FTA in the near future and expressed hope that it will lead to enhanced economic and trade relations.

They also agreed to cooperate and work closely at the Forum for East Asia and Latin America Cooperation.

Separately, Minister Yeo also met New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Raymond Peters on Wednesday.

They reaffirmed the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed the upcoming East Asia Summit meeting.
