Business Lobby Group Urges FTA with EU
2 August 2006
Korea’s big-business lobby is urging a free-trade agreement with the European Union. The Federation of Korean Industries reports the Korean and the European economies are complementary, hence there will be few hurdles to sealing a pact.
The business lobby also said Korea’s key export products will benefit greatly from the deal as the EU maintains high tariffs on those goods. The EU is the second biggest importer of Korean goods and biggest investor here in the country. Many Korean businesses favor the EU as a possible free trade partner along with the U.S. and China.
